150 years ago, the vast majority of the Danish population experienced opera for the first time with the city's local military band. Some audiences experienced the Royal Danish Theater, while many listened to the famous arias by composers such as Rossini, Verdi and Bizet for the first time without soloists, but from music by trumpets, trombones and horns as solo instruments in the town square on Sundays.
Now, Prinsens Musikkorps and Henrik Engelbrecht are reviving the atmosphere of those days with lots of festive music from the most popular operas of the 19th century. Join us for this concert at Kastellet - and get the chance to witness the great story of military music and its importance for the vast majority of the country's population at the time, through the world of opera.
60 minutes
The concert will be played outside the church, but in case of rain it will move into Kastelskirken.
