Enjoy our Guest Artist in Residence with pianist Søren Rastogi
It's all about opera moments of the highest quality when Jens Søndergaard takes over Moltkes Palæ in a classical recital. Here, the Danish star will interpret works by Wolf, Williams and Langgaard, among others, accompanied by award-winning pianist Søren Rastogi.
Jens Søndergaard's baritone is something quite special. Fast ticket-buyers at last year's Copenhagen Opera Festival could experience this when Søndergaard sang in Elsinore Chamber Opera's ambitious Wagner production 'The Ring in One Evening'. But the difficult Wagnerian roles are just one side of the Guest Artist of the Year, who masters both the modern and the baroque genre, and this August evening in Moltkes Palæ you have the opportunity to enjoy one of Denmark's greatest voices in a versatile hand-picked repertoire. The beautiful Moltkes Palæ in Indre By, with its over 300-year history, will form an atmospheric setting for the concert.
Jens Søndergaard began his career as a child in Herning Boys' Choir and graduated from the Royal Danish Opera Academy in Copenhagen in 2003 and from the Royal Danish Academy of Music's soloist class in 2005. He then spent three years as part of the soloist ensemble at Das Deutsche Nationaltheater Weimar and a period as a freelancer at international opera houses in Norway, Germany and Switzerland.
Since then, the baritone has devoted himself to his Danish home turf, from Den Ny Opera in Esbjerg and Danish National Opera to Den Fynske Opera, and from 2020 as a permanent member of the Royal Theatre's soloist ensemble. When Søndergaard returns to Copenhagen Opera Festival, he will be at the centre of an undoubtedly breathtaking recital with pianist Søren Rastogi by his side.
