Aveny-T will be hosting masterful soprano performances, dark motherhood tales and true magical operas when Copenhagen Opera Festival takes over the stage for a week in August.
The three stunning performances include the world premiere of the new work “The Yellow Wallpaper” that explores a young woman's postpartum depression and forced isolation. “The Yellow Wallpaper” will take the stage with a haunting and claustrophobic set design, and melancholic score composed by rising star Dani Howard.
Forced isolation and separation is also a theme in Puccini`s classic opera “Suor Angelica-Sister Angelica” that rounds off the festival's Il Trittico series. Enjoy heartbreaking arias by many female soloists, including the award-winning soprano and festival favourite Yana Kleyn. Kleyn will perform in the role of the young nun that stages her own suicide in the wake of her son's death.
A true opera classic will be also presented by the Helsingør Kammeropera. Helsingør Kammeropera will perform an abridged chamber version of Wagner's monumental 'Ring of the Nibelung'. This work, that normally takes four evenings to perform, is rearranged into a three-hour focused tour de force of iconic melodies and divine power struggles by seven accomplished Wagnerian singers. Do not miss this feat on the historic Frederiksberg stage.
