It is now six months since NORDKRAFT as an opera had its world premiere. Composer Signe Lykke created her first full-length opera based on the book by Jakob Ejersbo. The music offered intens atmospheres which on stage were amplified by strong and beautiful tableaux.

NORDKRAFT is commissioned by Copenhagen Opera Festival. The world premiere took place at Teater Nordkraft in Aalborg in collaboration with Aalborg Opera Festival. Afterwards the entire production moved to Copenhagen, where it performed at Takkelloftet at The Royal Opera during the Copenhagen Opera Festival 2021.

Through the commission of new  and contemporary operas, Copenhagen Opera Festival wants to strengthen the genre and show confidence in young debuting talents, which we will see much more of in the years to come. In 2022, we will premiere another newly written opera, which is initiated and produced by the festival.
