An introduction to 100 Opera Moments from Artistic Director, Amy Lane

In 2020, COVID-19 has demanded our undivided attention and up-turned our worlds.  

Re-imagining has become a familiar process, as we dance with this new partner 

who dances to their own tune, not wishing to be led.

But from this devastation must rise a new hope.

100 Opera Moments (100 opera-øjeblikke in Danish) was created 

in response to Corona’s inflicted Pause button,

where we learned that Music & Art will never be silenced, 

particularly in times of loss or sadness.

 We are thrilled to present these 100 surprise live performances and to

fling open the doors and windows once more to these fantastic musical realms,

presenting 45 artists performing 70 arias and ensembles from over 

35 operas, operettas and musicals, from 40 composers - 

and all over the course of five days!

We could not have created this beautiful programme 

without the dedication and passion of our artists and producers, 

nor the members of the public who wrote in to apply for an Opera Moment for their nominated cause. 

These 100 Opera Moments come not just from us, but from the those who are sending these performances and we are so grateful to our hosts and collaborators who have lifted our spirits and joined in

our wish to keep sharing live music.

We hope our artists get to meet as many of you as possible on their journeys around this beautiful city 

as we perform from our hearts to yours.
