The soloist for the evening is Norwegian star soprano Lise Davidsen, who has carved out a career in a league of her own since her breakthrough in 2015. Here she burst onto the international scene by winning several awards at several renowned competitions, such as Operalia and The International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition. The awards were quickly followed by triumphant debuts at the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Teatro Alla Scala Milan, and Bayreuth, among others.

The Tivoli Copenhagen Phil will be conducted this evening by American conductor James Gaffigan, recently appointed Music Director of the Komische Oper in Berlin. Together they present arias that get close to female characters in distress, in action, in despair,in exaltation and in hand-picked operas such as Verdi's Don Carlos, the Force of Destiny and Otello, Beethoven's Fidelio and Wagner's opera Valkyrie. The gala evening will end on a high note with the aria 'Dich teure Halle' from Tannhäuser.
